Ama dances Contemporary, Samba, Afro Brasilian, and enjoys Salsa and House socially.
Alongside training in the UK, Ama has travelled to Brasil to enrich her knowledge of Afro-Brasilian, Samba and Contemporary (Silvestre technique) and also across Cuba to further develop her movement vocabulary. Ama has performed across the UK and internationally, both freelance and with Element Arts Company, Reuben Feels, Oi Brasil and Tropicalia Latin Entertainment at a variety of latin venues, corporate and arts events such as Team GB Olympic Ball, Brit Awards After Party, Lovebox Festival, Move It!, Summer Streets Regent Street Festival, Hot Wuk and has worked for brands such as Smirnoff, Mini-cooper, Red Bull UK and Virgin Holidays.
She has also taught for City Academy; one of London's leading performing arts academies, is a Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Step Into Dance teacher and has delivered team-building dance workshops in Norway for staff at Migras Kindergarten. A member of Paraiso school of Samba since 2006, Ama has performed and paraded with them in numerous Notting Hill Carnivals as both a Passista and a highlight dancer.
Highlights so far include: Selfridges EveryBODY campaign - store front, in-store and online led by Wayne McGregor and captured by Norbert Schoerner, performing at Sadler’s Wells in Riot! Offspring – an intergenerational piece part of The String of Rites series celebrating 100 years of Stravinsky’s ‘The Rite of Spring’, performing for the Qatari Royal Family at the Brasilian themed 8th SDC Charity Gala Dinner and performing in the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
